About
Project Hope's mission is to connect people, through monetary and non-monetary needs, for the sake of alleviating poverty and illiteracy.Project Hope was born of the following beliefs:People are by nature generous, and will help others if given the opportunity to do so in a transparent, accountable way. The poor and the less fortunate are highly motivated and can be very successful when given an opportunity. By connecting people we can create relationships beyond financial transactions, and build a community expressing support and encouragement of one another. Project Hope promotes:Dignity: Project Hope encourages partnership relationships as opposed to benefactor relationships. Partnership relationships are characterized by mutual dignity and respect.Self-Reliance: Project Hope will see through that each refugee is able to rely on themselves and to be able to provide a good life for them and their family.

Project Hope is a grass-roots organization, and our team of committed volunteers is crucial to our mission of alleviating illiteracy. Please note up front that all volunteer/internship opportunities are unpaid and must take place in Atlanta, GA. Placement opportunities are based on particular assignments as they come up. We typically seek volunteers who are able to commit to volunteering with Project Hope in a part-time capacity for 6-12 months and may choose to commit to a longer period of time. Volunterring with Project Hope is a great opportunity to learn more about Project Hope's model. The required skill set is dependent on the department that submits the internship request. Overall, we target applicants who: 1) can commit to the minimum time frame, 2) are flexible by nature, 3) are open to all types of projects, 4) are comfortable with administrative responsibility, and 5) are looking to make a significant contribution in their time with Project Hope. The majority of projects that come up are centered around providing support to the refugees individually or as a group. It is important to mention that volunteer positions CAN turn into staff positions at Project Hope.
